FutureDrive NG+ Engine Turning Tool

Digital Core Turning for Repeatable Inspections

FutureDrive NG+ replaces manual core cranking with a digitally controlled engine turning system for on-wing and off-wing borescope inspections. The three-component architecture—power unit, drive motor, and hand control—delivers stable, torque-protected core rotation with programmable movement modes. Blade indexing, backlash compensation, and integrated blade counting help ensure full coverage of each inspection stage. The system connects to existing borescopes and supports two-way communication with Waygate MViQ+ for on-screen blade and stage information. Validated on more than twenty engine models and deployed with dozens of customers, FutureDrive NG+ standardizes engine rotation across mixed fleets.

Keyfeatures

Programmable Blade Indexing – Jog, Blade, Interval, and Continuous modes with bi-directional, 0.01–2 RPM rotation and dwell settings enable precise, repeatable positioning per blade.

Data-Driven Inspection Workflow – Hand control with backlit LCD displays engine and blade data while USB/XML export and blade flagging support traceable, auditable inspections.

Torque Protection & Shear Pin – OEM torque-limit enforcement and an integrated shear pin around 95 ft-lb with 2× safety factor protect the gearbox and driveline.

Engine-Specific Adapter System – Quick-mount adapters with dowel pins and captive screws interface via ½″ drive to a wide range of CFM, GE, Rolls-Royce, and other engines.

Single-Technician Operation – Wireless or wired control, hand/foot switches, and a compact wheeled case enable single-technician use and up to 50 % labor-time reduction per inspection.

Highlights

FutureDrive NG+ delivers controlled, blade-by-blade rotation across a broad engine portfolio—halving inspection labor while improving repeatability and traceability.

Application Cases

Borescope Inspections – Blade-by-blade high-pressure core inspection with programmable motion, digital blade logging, and single-technician control.

Mixed-Fleet Maintenance – Standardized rotation workflows across CFM, GE, Rolls-Royce, and other engines for faster, repeatable inspections at all bases.

Configuration Options

Safety & Operation

Digitally controlled high-torque motor with programmable modes, dwell, and backlash compensation ensures smooth, stable core movement during inspection.

Torque-limited drivetrain with shear pin protection reduces the risk of overstress to the engine gearbox and turning interface.

Integrated blade indexing, counting, and flag/return functions help ensure complete blade coverage and simplify re-checks of suspect positions.

On-screen engine, stage, and blade overlays in compatible borescopes support clear operator situational awareness at all times.

USB-based software updates add new engine programs and features, keeping procedures aligned with evolving maintenance requirements.

Mobility & Transport

Motor, power unit, and controls are housed in a rugged wheeled carry case for easy deployment at the gate, in the hangar, or on the test stand.

Engine-specific adapters mount quickly with dowel pins and captive screws, minimizing setup time when moving between engines.

Universal AC 110–240 V input allows operation at maintenance bases worldwide without additional power-conversion equipment.

Durability & Corrosion Protection

Brushless drive motor and protected drivetrain are designed for repeated high-torque duty cycles in demanding inspection environments.

Rugged transport casing shields electronics and controls from handling damage during shipping and daily movements.

Field-replaceable shear pins allow fast recovery from torque events, keeping the system available with minimal downtime.
